Soon it will be Valentine's Day! And, we are nearing the two-year mark into the COVID-19 pandemic. Did anyone think it would last this long? At Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley, we have continued to deliver meals, non-stop, throughout the pandemic. The number of homebound seniors who need meals delivered to them is constant from week to week. And as the need for home delivered meals continues, we find ourselves in dire need of additional volunteers in all areas of our process - from meal packing and bag sanitation at our warehouse to making meal deliveries in Salinas, Castroville, Soledad, Gonzales, Greenfield, King City and beyond.

The process to get meals to homebound seniors starts at our Salinas warehouse located at 40 Clark Street, Suite C. Volunteers on the meal packing team start at 8:00am in the warehouse, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Meal deliveries in Salinas begin at 9:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays with meal pick up at the warehouse. Our South Monterey County deliveries in Soledad, Greenfield and King City are made on Wednesdays where we meet the volunteer(s) in each city to distribute meals from our refrigerated truck. Seniors receive their meals beginning at 10am in Soledad and continue in south county cities through King City deliveries after 12noon. If this sounds like a fun and interesting way to volunteer, please contact us right away at 831.758.6325!
