Senior Socials in the Salinas Valley

Since 2021, Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley (MOWSV) has hosted a social congregate meal program for those seniors who are able to leave their homes and meet others for a monthly luncheon/social. The socials combine a fresh lunch, live music and/or an activity, a produce box from the Food Bank for Monterey County and senior resources presented by local agencies. MOWSV hosts 7 socials each month (unless noted below in the monthly calendars):

1. SASSO 3 Los Abuelitos -- Salinas on the first Tuesday of the month

2. SOCOS Social -- King City on the first Thursday of the month

3. SOCOS Social -- Soledad on the second Tuesday of the month

4. SOCOS Social -- Greenfield on the second Wednesday of the month

5. SASSO 1 The HUB -- Salinas on the third Tuesday of the month

6. SASSO 2 Sherwood Village -- Salinas on the fourth Thursday of the month

7. NOCOS Social -- Castroville on the fourth Wednesday of the month

In Salinas, SASSO 3 Los Abuelitos will be held Tuesday, September 1st from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Los Abuelitos Senior apartments – 528 E. Market Street, Salinas. Advanced registration is recommended. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in or near Los Abuelitos Senior Apartments, please register to attend in-person with lunch staff on site.

In King City, SOCOS Social will be held Thursday, September 3rd from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the King City Rec Center – 401 Division Street, King City.  If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in King City, Lockwood, San Lucas or San Ardo, you MUST RSVP to attend by calling Andrea Wasson at 831-385-6748 or emailing [email protected]

In Soledad, SOCOS Social will be held Tuesday, September 8th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Soledad Community Center - 560 Walker Drive, Soledad. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Soledad, please call 831-223-5250 to register or you may visit the Soledad Community Center to register in person.

In Greenfield, SOCOS Social will be held Thursday, September 9th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Greenfield Veteran’s Memorial Hall – 615 El Camino Real, Greenfield. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Greenfield, please call Braulio Fabian Zamudio with Greenfield City Hall at 831-277-0514 to register.

In Salinas, SASSO 1 The HUB will be held Tuesday, September 15th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at The HUB, Alliance on Aging – 236 Monterey Street, Salinas. Advanced registration is recommended. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Salinas, please call 831-646-5050 to register.

In Salinas, SASSO CHISPA will be held Thursday, September 24th from 11:00am - 1:00pm at CHISPA's Sherwood Village – 808 N. Main Street, Salinas. Advanced registration is recommended. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live at Sherwood Village in Salinas, please register to attend in-person with lunch staff on site.

In Castroville, NOCOS Social will be held Wednesday, September 23rd from 11:00am – 1:00pm at North County Recreation & Park – 11261 Crane Street, Castroville. Advanced registration is encouraged.
