Senior Socials in the Salinas Valley

Since 2021, Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley (MOWSV) has hosted a social congregate meal program for those seniors who are able to leave their homes and meet others for a monthly luncheon/social. The socials combine a fresh lunch, live music and/or an activity, a produce from the Food Bank for Monterey County and senior resources presented by local agencies. MOWSV hosts 7 socials most months -- including SAlinas Senior SOcial (SASSO) at 2 locations:

1. SOCOS Social -- King City on the first Thursday of the month (unless noted below)

2. SOCOS Social -- Soledad on the second Tuesday of the month (unless noted below)

3. SOCOS Social -- Greenfield on the second Wednesday of the month (unless noted below)

4. SASSO The HUB -- Salinas on the third Tuesday of the month (unless noted below)

5. SASSO CHISPA -- Salinas on the fourth Thursday of the month (unless noted below)

6. SOCOS Social -- Gonzales on the third Thursday of the month (unless noted below)

7. NOCOS Social -- Castroville on the fourth Wednesday of the month (unless noted below)

In Soledad, SOCOS Social will be held Tuesday, November 12th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Soledad Community Center - 560 Walker Drive, Soledad. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Soledad, please call 831-223-5250 to register or you may visit the Soledad Community Center to register in person.

In Greenfield, SOCOS Social will be held Wednesday, November 13th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Greenfield Veteran’s Memorial Hall – 615 El Camino Real, Greenfield. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Greenfield, please call Fabiola Lopez with Greenfield City Hall at 831-304-0116 to register.

In Salinas, SASSO The HUB will be held Tuesday, November 19th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at The HUB, Alliance on Aging – 236 Monterey Street, Salinas. Advanced registration is recommended. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Salinas, please call 831-646-5050 to register. Produce boxes are not distributed at SASSO The HUB. It is strongly encouraged for attendees to park in the Steinbeck Garage and walk to The HUB.

In Salinas, SASSO CHISPA will be held Thursday, November 21st from 11:00am - 1:00pm at CHISPA's Sherwood Village – 808 N. Main Street, Salinas. Advanced registration is recommended. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live at Sherwood Village in Salinas, please call Ruth with CHISPA at 831-757-6251 to register to attend SASSO CHISPA.

In Gonzales, SOCOS Social will be held Thursday, November 14th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at St. Theodore’s Church Parish Hall – 116 S. Belden Street, Gonzales. Advanced registration is encouraged. In Castroville, NOCOS Social will be held Wednesday, November 27th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at North County Recreation & Park – 11261 Crane Street, Castroville. Advanced registration is encouraged. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in the Castroville area, please call Elva Bonilla at 831-633-3084 to register.
