Since 2021, Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley (MOWSV) has hosted a congregate meal program for those seniors who are able to leave their homes and meet others for a monthly luncheon/social. The socials combine a fresh lunch, live music and/or an activity, a produce from the Food Bank for Monterey County and senior resources presented by local agencies. MOWSV hosts 6 socials most months -- including SAlinas Senior SOcial (SASSO) every other month:

1. SOCOS Social -- King City on the first Thursday of the month (unless noted below)

2. SOCOS Social -- Soledad on the second Tuesday of the month (unless noted below)

3. SOCOS Social -- Greenfield on the second Wednesday of the month (unless noted below)

4. SASSO -- Salinas on the third Tuesday of every other month (unless noted below)

5. SOCOS Social -- Gonzales on the third Thursday of the month (unless noted below)

6. NOCOS Social -- Castroville on the fourth Wednesday of the month (unless noted below)

In Soledad, SOCOS Social will be held Tuesday, April 9th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Soledad Community Center - 560 Walker Drive, Soledad. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. In Greenfield, SOCOS Social will be held Wednesday, April 10th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Greenfield Veteran’s Memorial Hall – 615 El Camino Real, Greenfield. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Greenfield, please call Fabiola Lopez with Greenfield City Hall at 831-304-0116 to register.

In Salinas, SASSO will be held Tuesday, April 16th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at The HUB, Alliance on Aging – 236 Monterey Street, Salinas. Advanced registration is recommended. If you are a senior, 60 years+ and live in Salinas, please call 831-646-5050 to register. Produce boxes are not distributed at SASSO. It is strongly encouraged for attendees to park in the Steinbeck Garage and walk to The HUB. SASSO is held every other month.

In Gonzales, SOCOS Social will be held Thursday, April 18th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at St. Theodore’s Church Parish Hall – 116 S. Belden Street, Gonzales. Advanced registration is encouraged. In Castroville, NOCOS Social will be held Wednesday, April 24th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at North County Recreation & Park – 11261 Crane Street, Castroville. Advanced registration is encouraged.
