Additional Programs

In addition to our meal delivery program for seniors, we also offer:

Helping Adults with our Nutritional Delivery System (HANDS) Program: This program provides non-senior, disabled adults with nutritious meals delivered to their homes for only $150 per month, pre-paid.

"Art & About" Music Program: In 2019 a collaboration began with the Arts Council for Monterey County. Local musicians perform "Sidewalk Serenades" for many of our homebound clients while receiving their meal deliveries. Musicians are hired through a few resources; the Arts Council for Monterey County as well as musicians living in Monterey County.

SOCOS, NOCOS Socials & SASSO: In 2021 we launched a congregate meal program for those seniors who are able to leave their homes and meet others for a monthly luncheon/social. These socials held in South Monterey County, North Monterey County and Salinas (named SOuth COunty Seniors Social, NOrth COunty Seniors Social and SAlinas Senior SOcial) combined a fresh lunch, provided by local restaurants, on-site kitchens or the Food Bank's Food Truck, live music, a produce box from the Food Bank for Monterey County and senior resources presented by local agencies. See "SOCOS/NOCOS/SASSO Monthly Calendars" page for dates and times.

AniMeals: We’ve been working with the SPCA for Monterey County for over 20 years and through this collaboration, we deliver PetMeals to our clients so they know their cherished pets will have nutritious food as well.

The Food Bank for Monterey County: Through this working relationship, we share the bounty of the Salinas Valley by providing a large bag of fresh fruits & vegetables to our clients, as well as staples such as bread, peanut butter, canned goods and cereals.

Monterey County Free Library & local publications: It’s important that our clients stay up-to-date on news and read to stimulate their brains, so each week, we deliver the MCWeekly and monthly, The Foolish Times to them. Clients also have the opportunity to borrow books from the library, read them at their leisure and return them to the library in pre-paid postage envelopes.

Contact Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley at 831.758.6325 for details on any of these programs.
