Additional Programs

In addition to our meal delivery program for seniors, we also offer:

Helping Adults with our Nutritional Delivery System (HANDS) Program: This program provides non-senior, disabled adults with nutritious meals delivered to their homes for only $150 per month, pre-paid.

AniMeals: We’ve been working with the SPCA for Monterey County for over 20 years and through this collaboration, we deliver PetMeals to our clients so they know their cherished pets will have nutritious food as well.

The Food Bank for Monterey County: Through this working relationship, we share the bounty of the Salinas Valley by providing a large bag of fresh fruits & vegetables to our clients, as well as staples such as bread, peanut butter, canned goods and cereals.

Monterey County Free Library & local publications: It’s important that our clients stay up-to-date on news and read to stimulate their brains, so each week, we deliver the MCWeekly and monthly, The Foolish Times to them. Clients also have the opportunity to borrow books from the library, read them at their leisure and return them to the library in pre-paid postage envelopes.

"Art & About" Music Program: In 2019 a great collaboration with the Arts Council for Monterey County began monthly (until the COVID-19 pandemic put it on hold) with many homebound clients enjoying music provided by local musicians. Clients on our Salinas routes have been serenaded by a variety of musicians who are professional artists from the Arts Council for Monterey County. These musicians accompanied MOWSV volunteer drivers during their deliveries of Additional Tasty Items (ATI) to client homes. The program will resume once the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us and it is safe to interact with our clients.

SOCOS Socials: In September 2021 we launched a program for those seniors who are able to leave their homes and meet others for a monthly luncheon/social. The social (named SOuth COunty Seniors Social) combines serving a fresh, lunch provided by local restaurants, live music, a goodie bag from the Food Bank for Monterey County and resources for seniors presented by local senior agencies. We are planning to hold SOCOS Socials once a week in various cities throughout south county. Currently, we have SOCOS Social Soledad and SOCOS Social Gonzales with plans to expand to Greenfield and King City.
