Delivering Meals on Thanksgiving Day

Delivering Meals on Thanksgiving Day

Every year, Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley collaborates with the Salvation Army to assure that our clients receive a hot meal with all the fixings on Thanksgiving Day. For several years, volunteers with Salvation Army deliver meals to clients in Salinas and North Monterey County but South Monterey County clients did not receive meals. Regina Gage, MOWSV Executive Director, wanted to change this for 2019. She gathered volunteers weeks in advance who would be willing to drive to South Monterey County with hot Thanksgiving meals. Clients returned Thanksgiving meal forms to MOWSV in early November so that Salvation Army could determine who wanted meals and prepare them on Thanksgiving morning. Several MOWSV board members, along with Regina, met at the Salvation Army headquarters to get meals and client addresses to begin delivering the meals. Thank you for giving up part of your Thanksgiving morning Regina Gage, ED; Robyn Chamberlin, Board Treasurer; Daniella Zapata, Board member; Joanne Bravo, Board Vice President and Jesus Yanez, Board member.
